The Hitchcock Foundation is thrilled to announce our partnership with the Phippen Museum in Prescott, Arizona.

The extraordinary Hitchcock Foundation Art Collection represents Ed Hitchcock’s love of the west and “the cowboy way.” Select artworks can be viewed at the Phippen Museum in Prescott, a unique place where contemporary artists of the west continue to thrive and create.

The expansive Hitchcock Collection is a well curated selection of fine art with a focus on the western ranching traditions, particularly those of the Arizona desert highlands. This wide assortment of two and three-dimensional artworks and photographs dating from the mid to late 20th century offers something for everyone who appreciates this narrative art genre.

There are nearly 30 different artists represented in the collection. Each artistic style is unique with a common thread of realism and some impressionism woven in as well. It is a great sampling of the Cowboy Artists of America (“CA”) as it includes eight members of that prestigious group of artists founded at Oak Creek Tavern Sedona in 1965. Often referred to as the “Sons of Charlie Russell” these members create works with commitment to the time-honored western art genre.

The wonderfully curated exhibit at the Phippen Museum reinforces the importance of the art genre for keeping the west alive for future generations. Thanks to Ed Hitchcock for his artistic eye and his tenacity in amassing this collection of fine art that can be experienced through this exhibit in this most perfect location. Thank you to the Phippen Museum staff for presenting this wonderful art installation for all to enjoy! By Marilyn Fisher, Principal Appraiser and Founder of Fisher Appraisals West.
